Pop Plushies is a light-hearted homage to pop music, imagined the way a child might see it: every star turned into a soft, round, smiling plush toy. The eight works are original caricatures in a toy-like style, made as a tribute, with no affiliation to or endorsement by the artists who inspired them.
The need — a children’s room that grows with the child
Our decorator is often asked for children’s art that avoids the usual cartoon clichés and still feels joyful. Plush characters solve that neatly: they are gentle enough for a nursery, and the musical theme keeps them interesting as a child grows into a playroom or a first bedroom of their own. Bright primaries and candy pastels sit well against white walls, soft wood and colourful textiles.
The production — one toy language for eight personalities
The art director gave the whole series a single toy vocabulary: felt and fleece textures, oversized heads, stitched smiles, a clean studio background. Within that shared style, each character is told through a signature detail — a hairstyle, a colour, a favourite instrument — so the series reads as a band rather than eight separate pictures. The caricature stays affectionate, never mocking.
The sale — the easiest gift in the catalogue
Our gallerist sees this collection as a natural gift: for a birthday, a new room, or a young fan. Hung as a pair or a trio at a child’s eye level, the works become part of the room’s play. On acrylic glass the colours stay bright and the surface wipes clean, a practical point every parent notices.
