Caramel Ledger

Price range: 70,79 € through 3308,33 € ht

A quiet assembly of earth-toned geometries resting against an expansive, tactile void.

From the Press and Plane collection — Eight hand-pulled geometries — disc, bar, arc and grid — pressed in warm workshop hues, where the calm of Bauhaus order meets the honest imperfection of the human hand.

Description

Caramel Ledger is a study in the weight of silence and the beauty of the unfinished. Four horizontal strata—rendered in burnt sienna, warm caramel, and a muted olive-grey—anchor the lower third of a luminous, fiber-flecked paper ground. The intentional off-registration and raw, torn edges speak to a human rhythm, where perfection is bypassed in favor of an honest, tactile presence. It is a visual pause, an invitation to find order in the uneven and warmth in the austere.

Living with this piece is an exercise in atmospheric grounding. The generous negative space allows the eye to breathe, making it an ideal companion for spaces dedicated to deep thought or quiet transition. Its palette of organic ochres and deep browns provides a soft, structural depth that shifts with the natural light of the day, revealing the subtle textures of its foundational paper.

Purpose

This work seeks to evoke the meditative stillness of a workshop at dusk, balancing the rigors of geometric modernism with the warmth of organic, hand-worked materials.

Interior Decorator’s Advice

  • Place this on a textured plaster or warm-white wall to emphasize the paper’s rich grain.
  • Position near a window where raking afternoon light can highlight the subtle ink density.
  • Pair with dark wood furniture—walnut or charred oak—to echo the deep sienna and black hairline accents.

Perfect For

  • The collector who finds beauty in the ‘wabi-sabi’ of intentional imperfection.
  • Quiet intellectuals who appreciate the balance of heavy weight against open air.
  • Design enthusiasts seeking a bridge between brutalist form and natural warmth.

From the Press and Plane collection:

There is a gentle tension running through this collection, and it is what makes each piece breathe. Take the clear grammar of the Bauhaus — that early-twentieth-century school where art and craft learned to speak the same clean language of circles, bars and grids — and pull it by hand. The ink lies thick and matte, colours drift a fraction off-register, one edge is torn rather than trimmed. The geometry stays confident and composed; the making stays warm and unmistakably human. The name says it plainly: the press that prints, the plane it prints upon.

Across the eight works, a single afternoon of printing unfolds — terracotta and caramel, merlot and olive-grey, a deep teal ascending across cloud-white ground. Each holds its own quiet authority, yet they were composed to converse, sharing palette, rhythm and paper from wall to wall. To live with them is to invite a rare kind of calm: order without coldness, discipline softened by the touch of a hand. Hang one and it steadies a room; hang several and they hum together like notes in the same warm chord.
