This collection is an homage: original works made in tribute to eight American lives that changed the country’s idea of itself. They are interpretive portraits, not reproductions, and imply no endorsement by any person or estate.
The need
Studies, libraries, offices and stairwells carry portraiture better than any other space — a face at eye level in a corridor does something no landscape can. What such rooms need is gravity without solemnity.
The production
Every figure is drawn out of deep shadow into silvered light, in a single consistent register that binds very different lives into one series: Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. for conviction, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy for office, Muhammad Ali for defiance, Steve Jobs for invention, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe for the strange cost of fame. The restraint is deliberate — no iconography, no slogans, no colour.
The sale
Portraits of the recognisable are bought for what they stand for as much as for how they look, so let the sitter carry the sale and keep the presentation quiet. Acrylic glass suits the low-key monochrome treatment, giving the shadow real depth. Hung as a group of four or more, the collection reads as a considered statement rather than a fan wall.
